Andrew Blum
Andrew is a business and thought leader at the forefront of bridging strategy, leadership and culture in order to help companies tackle their most complex, multi-dimensional challenges.
As CEO and Managing Partner at Trium, he has led ground-breaking consulting and development engagements across a wide array of business sectors and geographies, for such globally renowned companies as AXA, Cisco, Comcast, Gap Inc., Genentech, McKesson, Nokia, Symantec and The World Bank. His areas of expertise include strategy formulation and implementation, corporate transformation, organization and process design, and high impact executive decision-making and leadership-driven change management.
In his 15+ years in the business, Andrew has leveraged a broad range of state-of-the-art tools and leading-edge practices to help clients create solutions that work, breakthroughs that last, and ultimately sustainable competitive advantage. One of Andrew's greatest strengths is his commitment to designing and facilitating necessary discussions, decisions and follow-up actions by asking difficult questions that most others do not or cannot ask-this often creates the conditions for leadership to emerge from all levels within an organization.
Prior to founding Trium, Andrew was a leader in Towers Perrin's Strategy and Organization Practice, where he led engagements dealing with issues in the scope of merger integration, process reengineering, leadership development and go-to-market strategy. Earlier in his career, Andrew managed the sales and marketing department of a software engineering firm. He also served as a 1st lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps, where he commanded several units in Japan and Korea during large-scale amphibious operations. Later, he served as a military skills and leadership training instructor. The skills that he gained during his service are the building blocks from which he has been able to develop leadership practices and tools in order to serve his clients and his firm.
Andrew is a frequent speaker on strategy and leadership issues, most recently at the University of California-Berkeley's Haas School of Business, Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, and the Graduate School of Business at Georgetown University. He has also been a regular contributor to Leadership Excellence magazine, and is profiled in Above & Beyond: Former Marines Conquer the Civilian World, a book about successful Marine Corps veterans. Currently, he is writing a book with the working title, Building and Leading Organizations You’d Want Your Kids to Work In.
Andrew holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a BA in philosophy from Reed College. He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife Lisa and two children, Leo and Lila. Beyond work and family, Andrew is also an experienced triathlete and Ironman competitor and is the founder of Endurance, a unique performance training center that brings leading-edge training technologies to athletes of all levels.
