Having temporarily traded San Francisco for London, I run five minutes north to Hyde Park. It's a huge, beautiful open space, and I'm still finding new routes to explore.

9am

I arrive at our client's office in the City where we have been working with them side-by-side for the past several months. I immediately launch into the day with Clinton and Laura, helping drive a project management meeting to ensure we're focused on this week's priorities, while looking toward the next four to six weeks.

10am

Internal team meeting on client Workstream No.1. We prepare for an upcoming offsite with the CEO of the broader organization and his executive team. This is just one of many workstreams we're leading across the overall business. Clinton will take the first cut at a preliminary agenda, and we'll use that as a starting point for our internal team discussion tomorrow.

12 noon

Time for a quick lunch outside the office with Clinton at Leadenhall Market, a beautiful, old market, with cobblestone streets — pretty novel for a native Californian! — and beautiful architecture. Over lunch we share new dinner spots and different neighborhoods we've discovered in London. We also discuss our upcoming weekend trips — mine to Tuscany and Clinton to Marrakesh.

1pm

Meeting with the client sponsor of Workstream No. 2. I review the findings from our interviews with the client's senior leadership team. We discuss the potential implications of this for his organization and his own leadership development intentions. He, in turn, shares some initial input that will inform our design for an upcoming offsite with his senior leadership team.

2pm

Client meeting with the CEO. We discuss how we'll partner to architect our approach for the remainder of 2007, focusing on leadership team effectiveness and their ability to positively influence the rest of the organization. We also share thoughts on what will be required from him to maintain momentum in this organizational transformation.

3pm

Three in the afternoon in London means it's 10am in New York. I join a conference call with my U.S.-based colleagues to download my conversation with the CEO and to work out the next iteration of our 2007 engagement approach. To the extent possible, we try and take advantage of time zone differences to leverage our teams in New York and San Francisco.

4pm

Interview with a potential consultant for our soon-to-be-opened London office. Over afternoon tea, we talk about what draws her to our work and her depth of experience in our field. On my walk back to the office, I reflect on how exciting it is to be part of Trium's growth, especially on a global scale.

5pm

Solo work. I go through emails. Clinton has sent the initial agenda for the CEO's leadership team meeting. I review the document, jot down some thoughts, and prepare for our discussion tomorrow.

6:30pm

Back at my flat, I call a friend in San Francisco and chat about my upcoming trip home in a few weeks. We make dinner plans at Chez Panisse, where we can have simple Californian cuisine, while we drink Napa Valley wine.

7:30 pm

I grab some dinner with a friend and relax. It was a good day.
